When the configurator utility is connected to the beacon, the "Flashing" tab becomes inactive. Disconnect the configurator if you need to flash the beacon.
First, make sure you have chosen the correct COM-port. You can check the COM-port number using the Windows Device Manager.
tBeacon accepts the flash image only during the boot sequence. Therefore, the flashing sequence should be as follows:
  1. Select the correct firmware for your tBeacon. Be careful, flashing an incorrect image could be harmful!
  2. Get the beacon ready for flashing. Make sure it's turned off, for example by holding the button until LEDs stop flashing;
  3. Click the "Flash" button. The configurator will wait for the beacon to boot;
  4. Turn on the beacon, by pressing the button or by connecting the USB-UART.
All of the above is not applicable to tBeacon Black - it will accept flashing automatically.
Most probably this is due to the absence of a correct USB-UART driver in the system. Please, check the chipset of your USB-UART and find the appropriate driver on the Internet.
Driver for tBeacon Black you can find here (chipset CP2102).
tBeacon configurator utility can only connect to tBeacons of the same version of the firmware. If your beacon is flashed with older firmware version you have to upgrade the firmware first of download the corresponding version of the configurator.
Note: tBeacon settings will be reverted to default during the upgrade procedure!
Probably, you have found a bug. Please, take a screenshot and contact the author.
You get a new tBeacon configured with default settings. Basic of them:
  • Frequency: 433.075 MHz;
  • Calling tone: ToneBurst (1750 Hz);
  • Calibrated individual frequency correction and buzzer resonant frequency;
  • External battery monitoring is disabled;
  • Timer-based beacon is disabled;
  • The coordinates format is DD.DDDDD (Google Maps format).
It is recommended to shift the working frequency, especially if it is not permitted to use LPD band in your location or if this channel is known to be busy. When installing into consumer drones like DJI Phantom, Mavic, Hubsan Zino, Fimi A3, etc., it is recommended to place the tBeacon into the drone's shell and use a tBeacon's feature of remote power-off. This is done by means of the corresponding switch in the configurator.
If you anticipate that it would be hard for you to turn off the tBeacon after each session, it is recommended to switch option "LiPo extra care" on.

Also you can make a screenshot of tBeacon settings with a keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-2.
